For 40 years…

JoAnn Longo-Silvestri, M.A. CCC-SLP, has been a leading provider of speech and language therapy serving families and their children throughout lower Westchester, the Bronx, and Manhattan. She is a sole practitioner, providing dedicated one-on-one intervention with each of her clients.

As a New York State certified and licensed speech and language pathologist, JoAnn’s private practice specializes in providing consultations, diagnostic evaluations, therapy and family counseling to assist her clients (toddlers to young adults) address communication delays and disorders.

JoAnn earned a B.A. and M.A. in Speech and Language Pathology from the City University of New York – Herbert H. Lehman College. She also holds a Clinical Competence Certificate, is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA), and the Westchester Speech, Language and Hearing Association (WSHLA). She is an active participant in ASHA continuing education courses. JoAnn has completed the PROMPT technique training course and American Sign Language courses at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf, Bronx, NY.

In addition, for more than ten years she was a related service provider for the New York City Department of Education Committee on Pre-School Special Education treating three-to-five-year-old children with communication disorders.

Prior to establishing her private practice in 1984, she was the pediatric speech and language pathologist in the Department of Otolaryngology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. There she provided diagnostic testing and therapy to a pediatric population on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. She also was the staff speech pathologist at the Institute of Applied Human Dynamics, Bronx, NY, providing testing and therapy to adults with disabilities.

Providing services to help clients from toddler to early adult focusing on diagnostic evaluations and therapy has been a rewarding and amazing journey. A personal accomplishment, JoAnn realized as a young girl she wanted to help people who had difficulty communicating. Throughout her career she has maintained her passion and commitment to this goal and has built a respected and successful private practice. In recent years, she has had the privilege of providing therapy to the children of former clients.
